IVF May Be Tied To Ovarian Tumors Later In Life

IVF May Be Tied To Ovarian Tumors Later In Life: A Dutch study suggests that stimulating the ovaries to produce eggs for in vitro fertilization or IVF, may increase the risk of developing ovarian tumors, some of which may become cancerous, later in life. Overall, the researchers found rates of non-fatal "borderline ovarian tumors" were increased four-fold and rates of malignant tumors were increased two-fold compared to other women seeking fertility treatment who did not undergo IVF.

Final installment: Does God whisper?

Many well-meaning Christians apparently believe God is in the habit of communicating important details regarding His purpose for our lives with speech that is not clear.

. . . If human limitation interferes with God’s communication, we surrender our argument for the inerrancy of Scripture.

. . . One way God works is to give wisdom, which He promises to those who ask, especially in the midst of trying situations James 1:5. Some think, however, this means God simply tells them what to do. God speaks; they listen. This is not wisdom, though, because even a fool can follow directions. Wisdom is skill at living. It’s insight into the way the world works. Merely following orders requires no discernment, no deliberation, no knowledge, no reflection, no understanding—in short, no wisdom. There’s a difference between receiving revelation of some sort (“God told me…”) and growing in wisdom, or gaining insight to unravel a problem, or
getting creative “inspiration,” or experiencing the outworking of a spiritual gift.

. . . Special revelation is extremely rare and carries with it a unique authority. By contrast, creative inspiration or insight is common, especially for the Christian actively depending on God and leaning on Him for help (Prov. 3:5-6). STR

Gardasil: What About the Boys?

Gardasil: What About the Boys? « Coming Home: "From a strict infectious diseases perspective, the goal of public health is to certainly limit the pool of pathogen within a population, and to eradicate it if at all possible. This was done successfully with smallpox through a determined and aggressive campaign of world-wide immunization. From a strictly scientific perspective, the same makes sense with HPV. Why not shoot for eradication?"

Planned Parenthood: Hospitals Are Dangerous

Swedish Health Services and Providence Health & Services, a Catholic healthcare organization, have tried over the last decade to find a way to join forces to provide the best possible medical services at Seattle’s Swedish Hospital. They’re poised to come to a historic agreement that would allow both organizations to do the most good for everyone, but controversy has crept in because, as part of the agreement, Swedish is committing to not perform elective abortions.

NOW is in an uproar that any hospital anywhere would dare to not provide abortions. But Planned Parenthood is actually excited about the move. Why? Why else: money.

Swedish is helping to underwrite the costs of a new Planned Parenthood facility in Seattle, supposedly built to handle the scads of women who will be turned away when the new policies are implemented. But in the face of such a gift at the hands of the hospital establishment, Planned Parenthood inexplicably lashes out at hospitals for infringing on their abortion turf.

They claim they’ve perfected the quick in-and-out abortion, but they also claim to give the most attentive and loving patient care. They claim that hospital abortions are somehow more dangerous than abortions at their facilities, but these hospitals are the very places to which Planned Parenthood regularly rushes their clients when they botch the procedure. Sordid History of Abortionist Karpen

Traditional disciplinary means have seemed to have little or no effect on Karpen over the years. Therefore, Operation Rescue is asking the Texas Medical Board to impose the maximum penalty possible on him in order to protect the public and help him take measures to amend his ways.

Pro-Choicers Hate the "What if I Hadn't Been Born" Question. Here's Why.

The “what if my mom had an abortion” [argument] applies to more people than those whose mothers were raped. It applies to people born in the mixed up days before Roe v. Wade when abortion was legal in some places and not others. It applies to everyone who’s ever been adopted. Of course, it really applies to EVERYONE, but some of us have more cause to dwell on it than others.

And I think the reason that we freak out the pro-choice movement so much is . . . that we fly in the face of the narrative about how awful life is for unwanted children. We give lie to the claim that a fetus is just a clump of tissue. We offer painfully real evidence of what happens if you don’t have an abortion. It’s very easy to say “but what about all the times that you have sex and don’t get pregnant?” Duh. But once something has been done, it can’t simply be undone. An aborted fetus had a heartbeat, and a brain, and, depending on the gestational age, tiny arms and legs and maybe even fingers and toes. It was human.

I don’t know if the world itself is a better place because I’m in it. . . . But my life is precious to me. It’s funny—many people are pro-life because of their religious convictions. I am pro-life at least in part because I’m not religious. I don’t believe in fate, or that God has some purpose for me. My being here is accidental and miraculous and I value every second of it. New Arizona Pro-Life Law Cuts Abortions by a Third

New Arizona Pro-Life Law Cuts Abortions by a Third: The state reported there were 729 abortions in Arizona during September -- a decline of almost 31 percent from September 2010, nearly 32 percent from August of this year and 39 percent from the monthly average for the last year, the Associated Press reported Oct. 12.

The decrease in abortions came after the Arizona Court of Appeals unanimously upheld in August a 2009 state law that places limitations on abortion services. The Abortion Consent Act mandates only doctors perform abortions; requires women to receive full information 24 hours beforehand on abortion, its risks, fetal development and alternatives to the procedure; mandates parental consent for minors, and protects freedom of conscience for pro-life, health-care workers.

Abortionists not held accountable for errors

"I recently took care of a woman who almost died because she’d had an abortion. A few days before I saw her, she’d had an abortion because of a positive pregnancy test. Now, after an abortion, the clinic will examine the remains which have been scraped from the uterus to take inventory of fetal parts in order to ensure that the entire pregnancy was totally eliminated. This clinic noted that there were no fetal parts, which meant that the pregnancy had not been in the uterus.

". . . In any legitimate medical facility, a woman with an ectopic pregnancy would have an immediate ultrasound to assess the ectopic, be admitted to the hospital, and have surgery before it could rupture and potentially take her life. In this abortion facility, the woman was sent home and told to call her doctor. Unfortunately, time was not on her side — before she ever had the chance, her ectopic pregnancy ruptured, she was rushed to the ER by ambulance, and taken immediately to the operating room.

"Had this quality of care been provided by any other medical provider — family physician, obstetrician, or emergency physician — it would be considered grossly negligent. By an abortion provider, it does not even cause a stir. In fact it goes unnoted and unreported." Elliot Institute, 2000

Does Sex Ed Undermine Parental Rights?

Does Sex Ed Undermine Parental Rights? - NYTimes.com: Imagine you have a 10- or 11-year-old child, just entering a public middle school. How would you feel if, as part of a class ostensibly about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, he and his classmates were given “risk cards” that graphically named a variety of solitary and mutual sex acts? Or if, in another lesson, he was encouraged to disregard what you told him about sex, and to rely instead on teachers and health clinic staff members?

That prospect would horrify most parents. But such lessons are part of a middle-school curriculum that Dennis M. Walcott, the New York City schools chancellor, has recommended for his system’s newly mandated sex-education classes. There is a parental “opt out,” but it is very limited, covering classes on contraception and birth control.

MUST READ: Planned Parenthood Kept Me in the Dark on My Abortion

Abby Johnson describes her medical abortion and Planned Parenthood's lack of informed consent:
Looking back on my tonsillectomy and my abortion, one thing really stands out. When my ENT was going over all of these crazy risks, I was kind of thinking, “Hey, can you just not tell me any of this.” But then I was grateful. Because if I woke up and I wasn’t able to talk, or if my two front teeth were all busted up, at least I would have known that was a possibility. At least I had the choice to back out. With my abortion, I wasn’t given that choice. They didn’t tell me what was really going to happen to me…because they didn’t want to “scare” me? So much for freedom of choice.
Here is another glaring contrast. When my ENT was explaining the risks to me, I became nervous. But as he was calming my fears, I remember him saying, “Don’t worry, none of this has ever happened before to any of my patients.” That made me feel better. But the same cannot be said of abortion…particularly medication abortion. Women have died from medication abortion. Thousands of women have had very serious complications. I saw many of them with my own eyes…I was one of them.

Planned Parenthood Lies About PRCs

Planned Parenthood Lies About Pregnancy Resource Centers: Planned Parenthood recently posted a status on Facebook claiming that 87% of pregnancy resource centers gave “false or misleading information” to their callers, posing as a 17-year-old pregnant girl, during a phone investigation of the centers. The vast majority of these centers informed the callers that induced abortion can lead to an increased risk of breast cancer, mental health problems, and infertility issues in the future, which Planned Parenthood avidly denounces.

Phill Kline Wrongly Targeted For Taking on Planned Parenthood

Phill Kline Wrongly Targeted For Taking on Planned Parenthood | LifeNews.com: What happens when a prosecutor takes on the corrupt abortion industry in a state that has been governed by abortion-lobby-endorsed politicians and Supreme Court justices appointed for life by a pro-abortion governor? What if he files criminal charges against Planned Parenthood that could result in the loss of its federal funding?

The answer is not surprising: A protracted public scourging, vitriolic character assassination by a state supreme court justice aided by local media, and eventual suspension of the law license of one of the bravest, most dedicated men ever to step up to the plate to fight Planned Parenthood.

Naomi Wolf: Instructive on free speech rights for all protesters

Naomi Wolf: How I was arrested at Occupy Wall Street | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk: Naomi Wolf is a pro-abortion feminist who has written thoughtfully about the issue. Here she writes about her experiences of being arrested for merely advising Occupy Wall Street protesters with some information that would be instructive for pro-life protesters:
"In my book Give Me Liberty, a blueprint for how to open up a closing civil society, I have a chapter on permits – which is a crucial subject to understand for anyone involved in protest in the US. In 70s America, protest used to be very effective, but in subsequent decades municipalities have sneakily created a web of "overpermiticisation" – requirements that were designed to stifle freedom of assembly and the right to petition government for redress of grievances, both of which are part of our first amendment."

The Day After The Silence; The Pro-life Generation Spoke Loud and Clear Yesterday

Bryan Kemper, who is (I believe) the originator of the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity, blogged movingly about his impressions of yesterday's activities. These young students will inspire you.
"Another thing that struck me this year was how many first-time participants we had who were taking on this day alone. I read about how nervous they were as they walked into school not knowing if anyone else would be taking the vow of silence or how their friends would react to their stand.
"Many of these kids faced some heavy persecution from both their peers and school faculty as they went through the day. Students told me about dirty looks, rude comments, eye rolls and outright harassment — and this was from teachers. They talked about how other students would make comments about how they should have been aborted or how stupid pro-life was, but no matter what they faced they took a stand and shined a light in their schools.
"While there were stories of harassment there were also many stories of solidarity and support from unexpected places. One student told me about how one of the most popular boys in school read her flyer and then joined her for rest of the day. Others talked about how they brought a whole roll of duct tape to school and by the end of the day it was depleted from the number of kids who joined them.
"Many students bring literature and other educational tools to school with them to help educate their classmates with the truth about abortion. With today’s technology and tools like smart phones and iPads it is easy to show people the truth without using words."

Federal judge orders Kansas to fund clinic

Federal judge orders Kansas to fund clinic | Deseret News: A federal judge on Tuesday ordered Kansas to restore federal family planning funds to a Dodge City clinic that claims it is "collateral damage" to a new law aimed at defunding Planned Parenthood, saying that the U.S. Constitution trumps state law.

U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten granted the request from the unaffiliated Dodge City Family Planning Clinic and ordered the state to immediately pay the clinic. He rejected a state request for a $100,000 bond, calling it "mean-spirited" because they knew the clinic, whose employees have been working without pay, could not meet it.

Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri and the unaffiliated Dodge City clinic are challenging a law requiring the state to first allocate Title X monies to public health departments and hospitals, leaving no fund for specialty family planning clinics. They argue that under the Supremacy Clause Kansas cannot impose further restrictions on a federal program.

OK judge blocks abortion law from taking effect

The Associated Press: Okla. judge blocks abortion law from taking effect: An Oklahoma judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked from taking effect a new law designed to reduce the number of abortions performed in the state by restricting the ways in which doctors can treat women with abortion-inducing drugs.

The temporary injunction prevents the bill from going into effect on Nov. 1. Passed earlier this year by the GOP-controlled Legislature and signed by Gov. Mary Fallin, the measure requires doctors to follow the strict guidelines and protocols authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and prohibits off-label uses of the drugs. It also requires doctors to examine the women, document certain medical conditions and schedule follow-up appointments.

Asia-Pacific Pro-Life Congress in Kazakhstan

HLI Brings Pro-Life Leaders Together for Asia-Pacific Congress in Kazakhstan: Astana is a beautiful city of the future, and its people are very well off. But the visiting pro-lifers from 16 different nations felt an almost subliminal undercurrent of uneasiness, brought on by something important that is missing — in this case, small children.

You would think, in an empty nation like Kazakhstan, there would be groups encouraging people to have more children, but exactly the opposite is the case. Family Health International and USAID distribute contraceptives by the ton, the Population Council writes long reports supporting the continued availability of abortion for any reason or no reason at all, and, of course, the lethal alphabet soup of the United Nations coordinates everything — UNAIDS, CEDAW, UNDESA, UNDP, UNIFEM, and the omnipresent UNFPA.

Nobody could explain why all of these population control groups are necessary in a nation that has an average of only 15 people per square mile. The answer lies in the nation’s natural resources. Kazakhstan is rich in manganese, chromium, copper, cobalt, gold, uranium, coal, natural gas, and, of course, oil.

Most surprising abortion statistic: The majority of women who terminate pregnancies are already mothers

Most surprising abortion statistic: The majority of women who terminate pregnancies are already mothers. - Slate Magazine: "Women who are already mothers have more abortions than anyone else, and by an increasingly wide margin. When Guttmacher Institute researchers last ran the numbers in 2008 they found that 61 percent of women who terminate a pregnancy in this country already have at least one child. That was before the recession, though—before the poverty rate rose to swallow 40.7 percent of women who head families, many of whom know they can’t afford another child.* So I asked the National Abortion Federation, a professional association of abortion providers, to run the numbers on the women visiting their clinics and calling their hotlines in the past few years. The resulting figures shocked NAF President Vicki Saporta, who called to tell me that every year since 2008, a whopping 72 percent of NAF clients looking to terminate a pregnancy were already mothers, up at least 10 percent from the years before the economy crashed."

Study: Hundreds of U.K. Women Wrongly Told They Had Miscarriages

Scientists said ultrasound checks are resulting in some women with perfectly healthy pregnancies wrongly being told that their baby died in the womb. Women then usually would have a termination. If women experience pain or bleeding during a pregnancy, doctors scan the gestational sac inside the womb. If there is no embryo or the fetus has no heartbeat, they diagnose a miscarriage.

But where there is doubt, doctors are advised to measure the size of the gestational sac seven to 10 days later. If the sac has not grown, a miscarriage is assumed to have occurred. FoxNews
