When Jethro came to visit Moses, he soon realized his son-in-law was going to wear himself out. From morning until night he would solve people's problems. Sound familiar? At least Moses sat down! But Jethro offered a prescription for endurance and peace, found in
Exodus 18:13-26, which Moses accepted:
- Stand before God for the people -- in other words, pray! (verse 19)
- Show them how to do the task -- teach! (v. 20)
- Select good people -- delegate! (v. 21)
- Anything they can't solve, step in -- supervise! (v. 22)
Delegation doesn't mean walking away and never looking back. It does mean letting others share the weight of ministry after you have carefully equipped and chosen them.
