In every society, there are two critical lists: acceptable conditions for having a baby, and acceptable conditions for having sex. From time immemorial, the one thing that almost every society had in common is that their two lists matched up. It was only with the widespread acceptance of contraception in the middle of the 20th century, creating an upheaval in the public psyche in which sex and babies no longer went hand-in-hand, that the two lists began to diverge. And now, in 21st-century America, they look something like this:
Conditions under which it is acceptable to have sex:
• If you're in a stable relationship
• If you feel emotionally ready
• If you're free of sexually transmitted diseases
• If you have access to contraception
Conditions under which it is acceptable to have a baby:
• If you can afford it
• If you've finished your education
• If you feel emotionally ready to parent a child
• If your partner would make a good parent
• If you're ready for all the lifestyle changes that would be involved with parenthood

“Pro-Choice Cover-up” Must End
Congressman Chris Smith took his colleagues and the Obama Administration to task on the floor of the U.S. House on the eve of the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Virginia Legislature Defeats Bill Attacking Pregnancy Centers
The Virginia state legislature wasted little time rejecting bills sponsored by abortion advocates attacking pregnancy centers that provide pregnant women with help and support. The bills (SB 188 and HB 452) would have required the centers to post signs saying they don't do abortions and that would have given women the impression the centers are not legitimate, professional or that they give inaccurate medical advice. US babies mysteriously shrinking
Birthweights in the US are falling but no one knows why, according to a study of 36.8 million infants born between 1990 and 2005. It can't be accounted for by an increase in caesarean sections or induced labours, which shorten gestation. What's more, women in the US now smoke less and gain more weight during pregnancy, which should make babies heavier. Unmeasured factors, such as diet or exercise, could explain why babies are being born lighter. NewScientist

Woman Dies After Abortion at NY Clinic
A New York woman has apparently died as a result of a failed abortion done at the A-1 Women's Care abortion center located in Queens. WPIX-TV reported a woman in her 30s undergoing heavy bleeding was rushed to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. An investigation into the failed abortion is ongoing; one question officials are examining is whether the center was licensed to do abortions. WINS indicated the abortion practitioner severed an artery during the abortion procedure.

Other media reports indicate the second-floor office specializes in plastic surgery, laser wrinkle surgery, skin depigmentation, and liposuction, but does abortions as well. Teen pregnancy, abortion rates rise
The teen pregnancy rate in the USA rose 3% in 2006, the first increase in more than a decade, according to data out today. The data also show higher rates of births and abortions among girls 15-19. The numbers, calculated by the Guttmacher Institute, show a clear reversal from the downward trend that began in the 1990s. About 7% of teen girls got pregnant in 2006, a rate of 71.5 pregnancies per 1,000 teens. That's up slightly from 69.5 in 2005, Guttmacher says. In 1990, when rates peaked, about 12% got pregnant. Hundreds of Thousands Join 37th March for Life
Weather reports warned of rain and snow, however spirits were high and the weather good on the day of the event, with no snow or rain falling and temperatures remaining bearable. A sea of youth dominated the massive crowd, one of the largest – if not the largest - in the history of the 37 years of the annual March for Life. Organizer Nellie Gray told the press that the numbers of marchers this year far exceeded last year, which was estimated at well over 300,000.
