Carhart Deceives MD Board

Carhart Deceives MD Board About Late-Term Abortion Involvement :Operation Rescue: LeRoy Carhart is perhaps the best known abortionist in the nation, yet when he applied for a license to practice medicine in Maryland in September, Carhart intentionally concealed the true nature of his risky late-term abortion practice from the Maryland Board of Physicians.

“Looking at his Maryland medical license application, there is no mention of abortion anywhere. One is lead to believe that Carhart is an emergency room physician and university professor. There is no indication on that application that he is the most notorious late-term abortionist in the nation,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “In fact, Carhart has no hospital privileges anywhere, and his so-called professorship is in name only.”

Fetal DNA scanned for disease

BioNews - Fetal DNA scanned for disease: The complex procedure involved sequencing almost four billion DNA molecules from the pregnant mother's blood sample and separating the fetal DNA strands buried deep within it. They were then able to piece together a genome-wide genetic map of the fetus by using the genetic maps of both the parents, which highlighted places where the inherited DNA differed in the fetus.

Finally, the completed fetal genetic map was scanned for genetic disorders and researchers found that the baby had inherited the beta-thalassemia mutation from the father, and was therefore a carrier of the disease. 'Our study suggests the feasibility of using genome-wide scanning to diagnose fetal genetic disorders pre-natally in a non-invasive way', the researchers said.

At the moment, prenatal testing of genetic diseases relies on invasive methods, which require taking a tissue sample from the placenta (CVS) or removing amniotic fluid from the womb (amniocentesis) with an injection. These techniques involve a one percent risk of triggering a miscarriage or infection and are therefore only carried out in cases where the probability of disease is high.

Doctor jailed in Hyannis abortion death freed

Doctor jailed in Hyannis abortion death freed | CapeCodOnline.com: With his jail sentence complete, Rapin Osathanondh now must complete nine months of home confinement. He must wear an electronic monitoring device and cannot leave his house except in emergencies or for a pre-approved medical appointment. He cannot practice medicine, teach anything connected to medical science, or contact the Smith family. He also cannot comment on the case on any Internet social networking site.

In September, Osathanondh settled a civil suit, agreeing to pay the victim's parents, Tom and Eileen Smith, $2 million. According to documents filed in the civil suit, Osathanondh failed to monitor Smith after she underwent her abortion. Additionally, the suit documents state neither Osathanondh nor his assistant had CPR certifications, nor did they call 911 after attempts to revive Smith failed.

The civil suit documents also say that when the state Board of Registration in Medicine began an investigation of Smith's death, Osathanondh falsified CPR certification cards, bought new equipment and changed the configuration of his Hyannis office to make it appear that a defibrillator and oxygen were within easy access of where he performed medical procedures.

Accountability, measurability, and innovation

How are accountability, measurability, and innovation (or continuous improvement) related to standardization? Why are they important for the coming regulation onslaught? To stay on the cutting edge of reaching abortion-minded women and effectively help them have their babies it is critically important that we understand these concepts. See my latest blog to add fodder to our discussion. We have spent a lot of time talking about the importance of standardization together but why is it important? Is it possible to maintain an environment of accountability without standardizing your services? Can we measure anything with any level of accuracy without true accountability? And absent any reliable long term data with objective definitions that is collected with a high degree of Quality Assurance can we even innovate? Jim Harden

Judge rules against abortion provider | cincinnati.com | Cincinnati.Com: The St. Bernard, OH, girl who sued Planned Parenthood after it gave her an abortion - when she was 14 - without her parents' knowledge won a major victory even before the case goes to trial Feb. 7.

The judge ruled that the doctor for Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio breached a legal duty by not having a meeting with the teen 24 hours in advance of the abortion to explain her options, something called an 'informed consent' meeting. 'I think it's the first time ever Planned Parenthood has been in breach of that order,' Brian Hurley, the attorney representing the teen, said.

Iowa faces new abortion battle

Iowa faces new abortion battle | Des Moines Register Staff Blogs: Key Iowa Republicans are drafting legislation mirroring a new, more restrictive Nebraska abortion law in an attempt to derail plans of a Nebraska doctor to open a Council Bluffs clinic where late-term abortions would be performed.

A new law took effect Oct. 15 in Nebraska that bans abortions after 20 weeks of gestation, or roughly five months, except in cases in which the mother’s life is in jeopardy. The law led Dr. LeRoy Carhart, a Nebraska abortion provider, to announce last month that he plans to open the Iowa clinic.

Iowa law prohibits abortions after the sixth month of pregnancy unless the woman’s doctor believes the procedure is needed to “preserve the life or health” of the woman.

The dark side of biotech: expert details grisly fate of fetal body parts

The dark side of biotech: expert details grisly fate of fetal body parts | LifeSiteNews.com: Dr. Theresa Deisher, a molecular and cellular physiologist and an internationally-recognized expert in regenerative medicine, explored the routine “commoditizing” of unborn human beings in modern biotechnology in a speech in Washington, DC, on Friday. She noted that an article in the Puget Sound Business Journal discovered that the University of Washington filled out more than 4,400 requests for fresh fetal body parts from fetal tissue for the purpose of biomedical research in 2009, the first time hard numbers of such transactions were uncovered.

The scientist also noted that plenty of scientific literature, available on the Internet, discusses the optimal age for a child’s death in order to obtain useful body parts: one such professional noted that the best heart tissue is obtained from a child of 22 weeks’ gestation.

In addition to research, Deisher said the bodies of unborn children are being used “as not only biomedical research tools, but as actual medical therapies.” “Fetuses 12, 14, 16, 18 weeks gestation are ground up and their cells are implanted in people who have had strokes or Parkinson’s disease,” she said.

Another ethical battlefield involves the use of cell lines derived from aborted children. Contrary to popular belief, today’s fetal stem cell lines derive from not one, but several abortions - many of them in the second trimester - and will have to be replaced with fresh victims as they are only useful for about 30 to 35 years, said the scientist. Fetal cell line vaccines such as measles-mumps-rubella, chicken pox, and hepatitis A are not only morally problematic, said Deisher, but their use has a dramatic correlation with an epidemic on the rise: autism.

Sale of the Abortion Drug ella Surrounded by More Disinformation

Sale of the Abortion Drug ella Surrounded by More Disinformation | Americans United for Life | AUL.org: On its self-described “informative” website, Watson claims that ella “is not an abortion pill” and “if used as directed, emergency contraceptives do not work the same way as Mifeprex.”

Born in a Barn (Stable)?

Born in a Barn (Stable)? - Answers in Genesis: A few points must be made as we compare the modern retelling of the birth of Jesus with the truth of Scripture. First, the Bible does not tell us that Joseph and Mary made it to Bethlehem just in time for Mary to deliver. In fact, this scenario is highly unlikely since it is doubtful that the two would attempt to make the arduous 70 mile trip from Nazareth in the final stages of her pregnancy. Also, Luke 2:6 implies that they were in Bethlehem for a while before Jesus was born (“while they were there, the days were completed”). Second, the Bible makes no mention of any innkeeper who told them that the inn was full for the night.

Pro-Life Organization Prepares for New Abortion Investigations

Pro-Life Organization Prepares for New Abortion Investigations | LifeNews.com: Live Action has made a national name for itself because of its undercover investigations of abortion centers showing video footage of staff misleading women on abortion’s risks and fetal development. The youth-led pro-life organization has also caught Planned Parenthood red-handed in covering up potential cases of statutory rape and staff members have been fired from their positions as a result.

Now, Live Action is preparing to launch several major investigations of the abortion industry next year and launching a new fundraising campaign designed to cover the expenses associated with it. “Our previous investigations have revealed shocking video evidence against commercialized abortion and prompted legislators and law enforcement to hold Planned Parenthood accountable,” says president Lila Rose. “With recent unprecedented pro-life gains in state and local government, now is a critical time for the pro-life movement to keep the pressure on the abortion industry.”

Query: "Illegal" or client?

In answer to our query as to whether clients who are in the country illegally should be reported to authorities, Linda Barr of Pregnancy Ministries in Chambersburg, PA, said: "We are in S. Center PA - a magnet area for migrant, Hispanic workers because of the orchards. Some of them stay in the area with their families after harvest.

"After consultation with CareNet, we treat them as regular clients. We are under no obligation to report them IF we know they are 'illegal' and we do not ask. Of course, many of those we see have followed their husbands to the area.

"We have also had a lot of contact with one of the pastors from a local Hispanic church. . . . He said their church is mainly on a first name basis and if someone does not want to give a last name he does not press it.

"We have chosen not to request photo ID except for the STI testing (required) and for the PA Car Seat Loaner program (also required). We have on occasion had "no shows" for the car seat program and we have wondered if that is due to the fact they do not have proper ID. Once or twice I have had someone present a photo ID license from Mexico and I explain that when it expires it will be invalid and the problems that can present for them if stopped while driving."

Thanks, Linda! Your comments are helpful.

No single component is greater than making a fabulous first impression. To become successful, you need to appear successful. No greater impression is the one that indicates you are confident, are all about your mission and you have integrity.

Organizations believe that in order to attract more money, we have to look and act poor. Not true in today’s sophisticated market with funders wanting to know that the distribution of their money will have a purposeful impact. During this session we’ll explore questions like: How are you and your organization being perceived? Is there more than one way to make a lasting first impression?

During this session, we’ll help you identify:

· The team members to support you while building your brand.

· What are their jobs and what are they doing to protect Y-O-U-R mission?

· What do you need to make those lasting impressions that will direct your energies to intentionally achieve your goals?

Details Emerge on LeRoy Carhart's Late Abortions in Maryland | LifeNews.com: LeRoy Carhart is a hired gun of sorts at the abortion business in Germantown, MD, and will be working there and not operating the abortion business as his own or in a partnership with someone else.

“Basically he is looking for work because he is broke and can’t kill post viable babies in Nebraska, so he is hoping to score some money in Maryland,” Troy Newman of Operation Rescue told LifeNews.com this afternoon.

Newman says the National Abortion Federation “hates” Carhart and won’t refer women wanting abortions later in pregnancy to him. Instead, they tell women to travel across the country to Colorado to see Warren Hern or New Mexico to visit Curtis Boyd. “Carhart has a long and troubled history within the abortion industry."

Only a third of the way through shooting, Shane and Wilson say they need all the financial help they can get.

Women veterans’ bill includes possible abortion-funding time bombs

Women veterans’ bill includes possible abortion-funding time bombs | LifeSiteNews.com: The “Women Veterans Bill of Rights,” or H.R. 5953, due for consideration by the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs this week, bestows upon female military vets “the right to a coordinated, comprehensive, primary women’s health care, at every Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility,” among other prerogatives.

Pro-life sources on Capitol Hill fear that bill’s wording may create legal precedent for taxpayer-funded abortion by failing specifically to exclude the procedure.

The bill also specifies women veterans have access to a “Department of Veterans Affairs primary care provider” who can provide “gender-specific” and “preventive” health care needs, and provides the right to “request and get treatment by clinicians with specific training and experience in women’s health issues.” This, say pro-lifers, could be twisted to mandate the availability of abortionists at every Veterans Affairs health care facility.

Kurt Dillinger: Groaning, grumbling, and gratitude

We can’t get rid of the groaning. It’s all around us, in front of us, behind us, upon us. Given this reality we make our choice. We can begin grumbling about the situation which eventually leads to grasping for control. Trying to control everything around us to relieve us from the groaning. Unfortunately that never seems to work for the long run. It may relieve us for a few days our weeks or possibly a few months, but it does not have the power to last over time. Audacity of Life

Instead of New Clinic, Carhart Moves Late-term Abortions Into Rundown Maryland Abortion Mill

Instead of New Clinic, Carhart Moves Late-term Abortions Into Rundown Maryland Abortion Mill :Operation Rescue: Operation Rescue has confirmed that late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart is not in fact opening a new clinic in Maryland as he announced, but is instead joining up with an existing abortion business in Germantown in order to evade a new Nebraska law that prohibits abortions past 20 weeks.

“This is not an expansion of abortion, but a relocation of Carhart’s failing late-term abortion business in a desperate attempt to avoid financial ruin,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Running from the law that halted his late-term abortion business, Carhart has made an opportunistic move to capture a portion of the abortion market vacated by the notorious abortionist Steven Chase Brigham, whose Maryland abortion clinics recently closed after it was discovered that he was operating a secret illegal late-term abortion racket in Maryland.

#ihadanabortion and i hate myself

#ihadanabortion and i hate myself «: I would take a bullet for my out-of-the-womb children. Why didn’t I protect the ones inside?

I have given up hope that the past could have been different. I cannot change what I did. Every bible study, counseling session, and prayer seems to just be a band-aid over a wound that will NEVER heal.

So, I will be a voice for my children who only know heaven. I will be a voice for the millions of women who live in regret, guilt, self-hatred and fear of being “found out.” I will be painfully honest about every feeling I have, and I will stand up for life even when it’s unpopular and politically incorrect. So, please spare me your pro-life/pro-choice arguments. I know what I saw. I know how I feel. I will NEVER be the same. I will NEVER get over it.

And if I don’t take this pain and make it my purpose, I think it might kill me.

Feminist calls unborn child a "tumor"

Pro-abortion feminist and psychologist Florence Thomas has published an account of her illegal abortion at the age of 22, obtained in the mid-1960s in France, in which she refers to her unborn child as a “tumor.” After the doctor had dismembered her unborn child, Thomas says she felt “a relief. An immense relief. This tumor went away, disappeared. I could go back to living.”

Thomas is now a psychologist at the National University of Colombia and the founder of the Woman and Society Group (Grupo Mujer y Sociedad). She is famous for her claim that women should be permitted to terminate the lives of their unborn children whenever the child isn’t “desired” by the mother, because the love of the mother is what “humanizes” the fetus.

Although Thomas claims she has never felt any guilt following the deadly procedure, she admits that afterward she “knew that I would not ever again have an abortion in my life. I went through that once in my life, and I would not do it twice. Today I continue to wonder how a woman can have an abortion two or three times and even more.” LifeSiteNews

Survey: 300 "Doctors" Do Late Abortions, 140 When Baby Feels Pain | LifeNews.com: The Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion research organization previously affiliated with Planned Parenthood, released a study in 2008 titled “Abortion in the United States: Incidence and Access to Services, 2005.”

The study found there were at least 1,787 abortion “doctors” in the United States but it revealed stark numbers when it comes to those who do abortions later in pregnancy. Of the 1,787, “[t]wenty percent of providers offered abortions after 20 weeks [LMP], and only 8% at 24 weeks [LMP].”

That translates to at least 300 “doctors” who who will perform abortions after 20 weeks LMP like LeRoy Carhart and, of those, 140 willing to perform abortions at 24 weeks LMP.

As a result, the United States likely passed the 53 million abortion mark on November 1.

IVF using donor eggs increases preeclampsia risk, study claims

BioNews - IVF using donor eggs increases preeclampsia risk, study claims: Pre-eclampsia is a common medical condition that affects between 2-8 percent of women during pregnancy and is associated with high blood pressure, increased protein in the urine and other symptoms. The cause is not fully understood but it is thought to be linked to problems with the placenta. The incidence remains the same for natural pregnancies and those following IVF treatment where the patient's own eggs were used.

Previous studies have indicated that women who use donor sperm and those who get pregnant with a new partner have higher rates of pre-eclampsia than other women, suggesting the condition could be related to an immune response against cells the body sees as foreign.

The New York City Council Takes (Bad) Aim at Crisis Pregnancy Centers

The New York City Council Takes (Bad) Aim at Crisis Pregnancy Centers - By Greg Pfundstein - The Corner - National Review Online: This is a case of the strong trying to oppress the weak, as matters of abortion always are. But judging by Tuesday’s hearing before the council’s Women’s Issues Committee, the bill’s advocates may not be as strong as they thought, and the weak not as weak as they imagined.

Couple puts their abortion decision up for a vote

A Minnesota couple says, like Caesar, they'll determine their child's fate by a thumbs up or down Internet poll. Their perfectly healthy baby  is 17 weeks along. DailyMail

Editor: When I went to the blog, the pro-birth side was winning. I voted, but immediately regretted it. I tried to leave the following message on the site, but I don't think it went through --

Hi. I voted in your poll (for birth) and immediately regretted participating. Not because I wish I'd voted for abortion (you can guess from my email address -- if you can see it -- that I'm pro-life. I regret participating because it feels like what would go on in the Roman Colosseum. No one who disliked the death games would have even gone to the Colosseum, and thus would not have participating in the thumbs up or down vote. So, while I hope the pro-birth votes will win, I think pro-life people cheapen themselves when they vote.
Your website makes me want to cry. I hate the thought that your baby's life hangs in the balance. I'm glad I at least have this chance to write to you and express my thoughts.
Your baby is precious. A gift from God. You are parents, right now. Once you're parents, you don't get to decide, and you certainly don't get to turn your parental responsibilities over to strangers. Your life is different now and will be forever after. Abortion will not change the fact you're parents, or that you had a child. Abortion won't solve whatever issues are presenting this choice to you.
My heart is heavy with what I feel is the futility of coming up with whatever words will persuade you. Please, don't abandon your child to the whim of the public. Grasp the magnitude of this event in your lives. Stand against the tide and defend your child against the forces of death. Be heroes, not passive bystanders in your own life! This is your life. This is your child.

Pro-abortion testimony at NYC council

Nancy Northup, president of the pro-abortion Center for Reproductive Rights, testified before the New York City Council on November 16, 2010 on the recently introduced bill that will regulate the deceptive practices of pregnancy counseling centers in the city. Ironically, their website says, "The Center for Reproductive Rights advocates against proposed laws that would limit women’s access to information, or force healthcare providers to give their patients misleading information about their health." You can download the full transcript for Ms. Northup’s testimony.

Disclosure and Coercion

Disclosure and Coercion: If a woman has an abortion without having been apprised of the facts about potential harm and suffering, she has not chosen freely: the decision-making process has been rendered defective. The normal requirements for informed consent prior to undergoing a medical procedure should not be suspended when that procedure is a termination of pregnancy.

Informed consent means that, prior to the decision to have an abortion, the patient must be fully advised of all physical and psychological risks associated with abortion, even if the doctor considers those risks minimal.

Closure of Two More Abortion Clinics Continues National Trend

Today, counting the Southgate mill, which will soon close, there are only 694,” said Operation Rescue spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger. “That great news for women and their pre-born babies.”

Twenty abortion clinics have closed in the past 11 months at a rate of nearly 2 per month. Operation Rescue maintains the most accurate listing of abortion clinics available on its Project Daniel 5:25 page.

Washington Clinic That Did Secret Abortion on Teen Closes

A social worker affiliated with an Alaska hospital arranged a secret abortion for a 15 year-old teenager at the Cedar Women’s Clinic paid for at government expense. Her family became alarmed when she didn’t return home from school one afternoon in March 2003. They only learned about their daughter’s whereabouts when an older daughter informed them. The teen believed her parents would not approve of the pregnancy, but told her boyfriend’s mother she did not want to have an abortion.

Fifteen weeks into the pregnancy, the teen had gone to the Providence Alaska Medical Center for prenatal care. There, the social worker asked her to return alone later in the day. The worker suggested the abortion and made arrangements with Cedar River Clinic abortion facility, near Seattle, operated by the Feminist Women’s Health Center. The social worker also arranged for a state-funded insurance program for poor children  to pay for the abortion.

The teen’s parents desperately called police when they found their daughter missing. Upon learning of the secret abortion, her parents told officials they would have gladly helped their daughter raise the baby.
They then filed suit against Providence. The Cedar Women’s Clinic, the first abortion clinic to open in the city 31 years ago, closed Monday. LifeNews

Michigan bills seek dignified burial for abortion victims

Michigan bills seek dignified burial for abortion victims: A package of bills passed the Senate on November 10 with a vote of 30-8. Right to Life of Michigan says they have assurances from sponsors of the bill that the issue will be taken up in the House at the beginning of the next legislative session in January. The bills aim to give greater dignity to the remains of unborn children killed in abortion.

H.B. 5928 would change the Michigan health code “so that fetal remains will no longer be classified as ‘products of conception,’ along with the placenta, umbilical cord, and other uterine contents. Two other bills (S.B. 1563 and H.B. 5929) would directly legislate the methods hospitals and abortion clinics use to dispose of fetal remains.

The proposed legislation comes in response to the revelation in late October that abortion clinics in Delta Township and Saginaw had been illegally dumping fetal remains and medical records into a dumpster.

Bill Brings Out Foes on Abortion

Bill Brings Out Foes on Abortion - WSJ.com: A contentious bill that would require about two-dozen so-called crisis pregnancy centers to disclose that they don't offer abortions drew more than 50 abortion supporters and opponents to a New York City Council committee meeting Tuesday. Members of the Committee on Women's issues weren't expected to vote on the bill, which has the support of Speaker Christine Quinn and the Bloomberg administration. Council Member Daniel Halloran raised questions about the city government telling a group that it must disclose what it doesn't provide, suggesting that Planned Parenthood should change its name to indicate that it also plans for nonparenthood.

Police in Thailand find hundreds of fetuses hidden in Wat Phai Ngern Buddhist temple: A strong odor emanating from the Wat Phai Ngern temple led police to the horrific scene Tuesday. A total of 348 dead fetuses -- wrapped in different colored plastic bags and newspapers -- were discovered in a temporary body storage area. Authorities are continuing their investigation and expect to find more fetuses in the upcoming days.

Police have already arrested undertaker Suthep Cha-bangbon, who was taken into custody and confessed to helping five clandestine abortion clinics dispose of the fetuses by cremation. No word was given on how long he had been storing the bodies or when he was planning on cremating them. Abortion is illegal in Thailand, except when the pregnancy poses a health risk to the mother, the fetus is abnormal or in cases of rape.

No Charges for Unlicensed Abortionist as ND Prosecutors Ignore Laws

No Charges for Unlicensed Abortionist as ND Prosecutors Ignore Laws :Operation Rescue: State’s Attorney Birch Burdick has announced that he will not file criminal charges against an abortionist Lori Lynn Thorndike, who committed illegal abortions at the Red River Women’s Clinic in Fargo, North Dakota, while her medical license was lapsed.

Brudick used abortion clinic rhetoric word for word by describing Thorndike’s licensing issues as “an administrative oversight” and noted that she had active medical licenses in South Dakota and Colorado at the time she was doing abortions on a lapsed license in North Dakota.

“North Dakota laws are very explicit. It is a Class B Felony to commit abortions in that state without a valid North Dakota medical license. Burdick has decided all on his own that the laws of North Dakota that were enacted for the protection of vulnerable women should not be enforced,” said Operation Rescue spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger.

Why are Anorexics More Likely to Have Unplanned Pregnancies and Abortions?

Why are Anorexics More Likely to Have Unplanned Pregnancies and Abortions? | TIME Healthland: New research published in the November issue of the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology that shows women with anorexia nervosa are far more likely to have unplanned pregnancies and abortions. Researchers studied 62,060 women who participated in the Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study. Just 62 women identified themselves as anorexic.

Half reported unplanned pregnancies, compared to 19% in the women without eating disorders; 24% of the anorexic women said they'd had an abortion, in comparison to 15% in the other group. The anorexic women were also younger than the other women when they delivered babies: 26.2 versus 29.9 years old.

“It wasn't just a subtle difference,” says Cynthia Bulik, the study's lead author. “It was really a whopping difference. We have got a public health message we've got to get out there.”

Editor: Is there also a link from abortion to anorexia?

Leroy Carhart Forced to Move Late-Term Abortion Business out of Nebraska

Leroy Carhart Forced to Move Late-Term Abortion Business out of Nebraska: Late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart has announced he will attempt to set up shop in three different states in order to continue performing late-term abortions that are now illegal under a new Nebraska law.

Carhart says he plans to have three new abortion facilities up and running by January with one in the Maryland-D.C. area, and another in Council Bluffs, Iowa offering late-term abortions. He also is acquiring an Indianapolis abortion clinic, which specializes only in early-term abortions.

He said that the reason for moving his late-term abortion business out of Bellvue is Nebraska’s new abortion ban, Legislative Bill 1103. The law prohibits elective abortions after 20 weeks post-conception on the basis that science definitively shows an unborn child feels pain at that age.
