People will tuck into a long meeting like a long winter’s nap if you’re not careful. Want better meetings? Keep them short and remove the chairs.

JOB SUMMARY: 

ArborVitae Women’s Center is a non-profit, pregnancy help medical center dedicated to empowering pregnant women with the knowledge, tools and caring support they need to embrace bright futures and make healthy, life-affirming decisions. 

The Executive Director (full time, salaried) reports to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for implementing ArborVitae’s mission, policies and Board objectives. The Executive Director coordinates a staff team (which also includes the Nurse Manager, Client Services Coordinator, and Office Manager) to insure that the highest standard of care is provided to the vulnerable population ArborVitae serves. The Executive Director maintains and improves organizational structure, strives for greater mission effectiveness, oversees development of new programs, prepares budgets, coordinates development and marketing efforts, and engages the community through public speaking and advocacy.

A demonstrated passion for the pro-life cause, along with the ability to articulate that passion, is a must. At least 3 years experience in a comparable organization, preferably at the executive level, preferred.

Organizational self-assessment: Putting your finger on what needs to improve

Self-assessment is about taking the pulse of your organization—what is currently working well? What isn’t working well? What is hindering your progress? It should be designed to expose root causes of organizational problems or issues, so that appropriate and effective solutions can be implemented. Or it may be used when you want to do something you have never done before—better informing you of the strengths you can apply to the effort and the deficiencies that might inhibit implementation of your new idea.
