Attitudes toward adoption: It's immoral?
In the Guttmacher Institute's "Reasons U.S. Women Have Abortions: Quantitative and Qualitative Perspectives" (Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, 2005) I came across this little disturbing nugget:
While fewer than 1% of women in the quantitative survey volunteered that they would not consider or did not favor having a baby and giving it up for adoption, more than one-third of interview respondents said they had considered adoption and concluded that it was a morally unconscionable option because giving one's child away is wrong. We have our work cut out for us.
Reasons U.S. women have abortions
Guttmacher: This is the 2005 study citing the reasons women give for having abortions.
NYC, Abortion Capital
NRO: Today the Chiaroscuro Foundation released an interactive map illustrating the abortion ratio by zip code in New York City from 2000 to 2009. The highest annual abortion ratio in any zip code in the period was 72.7 percent in Queens’s lightly populated 11430 in 2001, with 16 abortions and 6 live births. 11430 had the highest abortion ratio in the city three times over the period.
Other sparsely populated zip codes had ratios well above 60 percent on several occasions in the ten-year period, but zip codes with substantial populations and larger numbers of both abortions and births tend to top out at about a 60 percent abortion ratio and go down from there toward the citywide ratio of 41 to 43 percent.

The numbers Planned Parenthood doesn't want you to know
LiveActionNews: Planned Parenthood never delves any deeper into their abortion numbers, though. What are they hiding? Nearly 11% of Planned Parenthood’s overall clients obtain abortions. This is far from the deceptive “3%” notion they advocate.
Those abortion services garner Planned Parenthood millions upon of millions of dollars every single year. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the average cost of a surgical abortion is $451. (Chemical abortions, which are becoming more commonplace, are more expensive than surgical abortions, so the following calculation is a very conservative estimate.) Abortion is Planned Parenthood’s cash cow.
Abortion makes up almost 14% of Planned Parenthood’s overall billion-dollar income.

Dr. Priscilla Coleman Responds to Recent Media Attacks
Dr. Priscilla Coleman Responds to Recent Media Attacks | NRL News Today: "We responsibly addressed this error and the paper was never retracted by the journal. Interestingly the dozens of mainstream U.S. journalists who pounced on this situation and irresponsibly described the results as unreliable, invalid, debunked, etc., were absolutely silent when the meta-analysis was published last fall. This meta-analysis appeared in one of the most prestigious psychiatry journals in the world and the quantitative review incorporating data from 877,181 women offered the largest estimate of mental health risks associated with abortion in the world literature.
"A corrected error in a single study that reported associations between abortion and mental health is apparently more news worthy than a major meta-analysis."

Abortion Is Safer than Childbirth?
Prolife OBGYNS – AAPLOG – American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians & Gynecologists » Abortion Is Safer than Childbirth?: The prominent original research article “The Comparative Safety of Legal Induced Abortion and Childbirth in the United States,” by Raymond and Grimes in the Feb, 2012, journal Obstetrics & Gynecology, rehearses the original mantra of the choice argument: “Abortion is safer than Childbirth.” To reach this conclusion, Raymond and Grimes employ statistical methodologies seen before, using inadequate or incomplete data, ignoring some important literature, and drawing general conclusions using limited and, we feel, inaccurate “facts.” AAPLOG finds this article to be a very serious distortion of reality as we understand the reality.

Taiwan’s crackdown on sex-selective abortion showing marginally positive results
LifeSiteNews: Taiwan’s health authorities began warning doctors last year that they could have their licenses revoked if they were found guilty of committing sex-selective abortions.
Department of Health figures showed Taiwan’s gender ratio at birth from 2004 to 2010 was between 109 and 112 males for every 100 females, compared to a natural ratio of about 106 males to 100 females. The government agency estimated that this has resulted in up to 3,000 missing female babies each year. However, figures from 2011 showed that 108 males babies were born for every 100 female babies. That’s the same as 993 female fetuses saved last year.

A Serious Misrepresentation of the Relative Safety of Induced Abortion Compared to Childbirth
A Serious Misrepresentation of the Relative Safety of Induced Abortion Compared to Childbirth Published in a Leading Medical Journal | Wecare: You need to read this 2 page commentary so you know how to refute the mantra's misinformation. This is essential information for a prolife professional to know. You need to know that the data reported by abortion clinics to state health departments and ultimately to the CDC significantly under-represents abortion morbidity and mortality for several reasons: 1) abortion reporting is not required by federal law and many states do not report abortion-related deaths to the CDC; 2) deaths due to medical and surgical treatments are reported under the complication of the procedure (e.g., infection) rather than the treatment (e.g., induced abortion); 3) most women leave abortion clinics within hours of the procedure and go to hospital emergency rooms if there are complications that may result in death; 4) suicide deaths are rarely, if ever, linked back to abortion in state reporting of death rates; 5) an abortion experience can lead to physical and/or psychological disturbances that increase the likelihood of dying years after the abortion, and these indirect abortion-related deaths are not captured at all.

Political Calculations: The Throughput of Abortion Providers
Political Calculations: The Throughput of Abortion Providers: How many abortion procedures do the highest volume abortion providers perform every day? "Throughput" is a term that comes from high volume manufacturing operations, which refers to the amount of material that is processed within a given amount of time, or in the case of computers, the number of operations that are performed within a set time interval.
The question arises because of the great differences we observed in the annual caseloads for the various types of abortion providers.

Roe v. Wade and the dishonest industry it spawned
Roe v. Wade and the dishonest industry it spawned - The Washington Post: Abortion provider Merle Hoffman called a news conference at the National Press Club on Tuesday morning to announce the results of an alarming new study she commissioned:
Abortion rates have exploded since the economic collapse, she warned, as nearly three-quarters of women ending their pregnancies say they simply can’t afford to have a baby. Hoffman expanded on that trend to forecast a “dim future” for women if a Republican wins the White House: a world of abortion “slave states” and “underground railroads” and “pre-Roe reality.”
There was just one problem with this hysteria: The data in the study she presented were from 2008 — before the impact of the recession was felt. . . .
If the “choice” rally participants really wanted to preserve legal abortion, they’d be wise to drop the sky-is-falling warnings about Roe and to acknowledge that the other side, and most Americans, have legitimate concerns. Not every compromise means a slippery slope to the back alley.

But this is no time for reason; this is time for collecting donations. At the Press Club, abortion provider Hoffman gave a full-throated defense of her own abortion (“I had committed myself to my work” and didn’t want to be “diverted”), coupled with dire warnings about the future of legal abortion (“relentless attacks . . . will be impossible”). Hoffman likened her defense of the procedure to Martin Luther’s 95 Theses. “Abortion is a life-affirming act,” she said, and “abortion is often the most moral choice.”

91% of Planned Parenthood Clients Get Abortions
A new annual report shows Planned Parenthood did 329,445 abortions in 2010 while it provided prenatal care to only 31,098 women and referred only 841 women to adoption agencies. The number of women receiving prenatal care dropped significantly from 2009 to 2010, as the abortion business helped 40,489 women in 2009 — meaning almost 10,000 fewer women received prenatal support from Planned Parenthood last year than the year prior, or a drop of almost 25 percent. The number of women getting adoption referrals also declined — from a low 977 in 2009 to 841 last year, or a decline of 14 percent.
Examined another way Planned Parenthood does 391 abortions for every adoption referral it makes and almost 11 abortions for every woman it helps with prenatal care. LifeNews
