Editor: Did you ever notice how many celebrities are having twins? I just noticed a headline about Roger Federer's newborns, and it made me wonder why there seems to be such a high percentage of twin pregnancies among the famous. I presume it's due to fertility assistance. That begs the question, then, why so many famous and infertile?
White House: Snitch on People Who Oppose Health Care Reform
The White House is not happy with the millions of Americans who oppose the pro-abortion government-run health care plan Congress is considering. IRS Backs Down, Approves NonProfit Tax Status for Iowa Pro-Life Group
The Internal revenue Service has backed down after a legal threat from pro-life advocates following it targeting a pro-life Iowa group that acts in part as a watchdog over the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The IRS had refused to grant nonprofit tax status to the Coalition for Life of Iowa unless it agreed to limit its "picketing" and "protesting" of Planned Parenthood. LifeNews
D.C. to Offer STD Tests In Every High School
D.C. school officials are planning to offer tests for sexually transmitted diseases to all high school students in the coming school year, expanding a pilot program that uncovered a significant number of infected children. The program, which has been discussed by the D.C. school board, requires students to attend a lecture about STDs, but they can opt out of providing a urine sample for the test. All 50 states and the District allow minors older than 12 to be screened for STDs without parental consent. Washington Post
Women logging on for online abortions
There are growing fears women in England, Wales and Scotland are using the internet to buy the abortion pill. They can only be issued by licensed staff here and taken in front of a nurse. In Ireland they're banned completely. But a Real Radio investigation has found you can order them online for as little as £35. The pills are delivered direct to your door, but medical staff are worried women might not know what they're ordering and it could be trivialising the whole procedure. Real Radio

Don't mix stress with pregnancy
A mother’s emotional health can affect her baby for years to come, according to recent research, so stress should be avoided along with cigarettes and alcohol. But future mothers need help. “Everyone ought to be cherishing pregnant women more,” says Prof Vivette Glover, an expert on prenatal studies at Imperial College London. Her research has linked emotional stress during pregnancy to behavioral and developmental problems in children. She emphasizes that fathers have a significant role to play in reducing stress in mothers-to-be, as do family and friends. Irish Times
Chinese parents hope for daughters after glut of sons

Forgiving self?
How should you respond to someone who struggles to forgive herself for a past abortion? Colleen Tronson, director of Metro Women's Center in Crystal, MN, has this advice:
"Forgiveness of self is not a Biblical concept. . . . if we could forgive ourselves, we would not need the Lord's forgiveness! Forgiveness is [received] by looking up, not by looking in the mirror! . . . Ongoing 'un-forgiveness' of self is basically saying that what Christ did on the Cross was limited or insufficient (Rom. 8:1-2; Col. 1:13; Micah 7:18-19; 1 John 1:9; 2 Cor. 5:17). . . . Our past sins can affect how we think today, but we need to 'take every thought captive.' When old issues come up, speak the truth about God's forgiveness right back at them. The fact of God's unlimited forgiveness to us (when we repent) should remind us of His graciousness and mercy and cause us to praise Him more and to meditate on Psalm 18:1-6 that speaks about God as our rock and fortress and that His help is available."

Children 'sleep badly' if mum drank in pregnancy
Drinking during pregnancy has previously been linked to low birth weights and developmental problems as well as foetal alcohol syndrome, where the infant is visibly abnormal as a result of the mother's heavy drinking. Psychologist Katri Raikkonen, who studied 289 eight-year-olds, said even low levels of weekly pre-natal exposure to alcohol have adverse effects on sleep quantity and quality during childhood. Mum had abortion after kissing child with flu
Panicked mum-to-be Jill Demirel had an abortion - because she had kissed a child with mild swine flu. Jill ended her pregnancy in the 18th week even though she did NOT have the virus herself and her unborn daughter was fit and well. Despite reassurances from her GP, 32-year-old Jill convinced herself she would fall ill and die, damage her unborn baby and infect her two young sons and husband Hus. Jill said: "This was the hardest decision I have ever made but I felt it was the only option. I was petrified about what swine flu would do to me, to my unborn baby and my two boys."
Consultant Boon Lim, the pandemic flu planning expert for the Royal Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, urged pregnant women not to panic about swine flu. He said of Jill's action: "This sounds a very extreme measure and the lady concerned must have been very anxious. Pregnant women are more susceptible to the virus, but the majority of expectant mothers who contract swine flu will make a full recovery. Evidence suggests the virus does not cross the placenta to harm the baby, nor do the anti-viral drugs." People

Abortion Drug Has Killed 29 Women
If the information given to the Italian Pharmaceuticals Agency by European abortion drug maker Exelgyn is correct, then twice as many women have died from the abortion drug globally than the pro-life community has thought. Currently, eight women have died from using the RU 486 abortion drug in the United States, two in England, and one each in Canada, Sweden and France. But, according to a report by the Italian news agency ASCA, Exelgyn provided the figure of 29 women dying from the abortion pill to Italy's Ministry of Health. LifeNews
House Panel OKs Fake Pro-Life Amendment
A House of Representatives committee, late Thursday, approved a phony “compromise” amendment to the health care legislation it is considering.
