White House intends to repeal ban on tax-funded abortions in DC

The National Right to Life Committee warns that President Obama is pursuing a step-by-step strategy to expand access to abortion. "Today's White House budget submission explicitly urges the House and Senate . . . to repeal a law (sometimes called the Dornan Amendment) that has prevented tax-funded abortion in the District of Columbia for many years." National Right to Life This comes alongside Obama administration assertions yesterday that $63 million budgeted for family planning programs overseas would not fund abortions. Deputy Secretary of State Jack Lew said the Obama budget increases the money that will be spent promoting birth control and contraception and sought to reassure pro-life advocates that the funds will not be used to pay for abortions.
