Important documentary on black genocide

They were stolen from their homes, locked in chains and taken across an ocean. And for more than 200 years, their blood and sweat would help to build the richest and most powerful nation the world has ever known. But when slavery ended, their welcome was over. America's wealthy elite had decided it was time for them to disappear and they were not particular about how it might be done. What was set in motion 150 years ago is still being carried out today. So don't think that this is history. It is not. It is happening right here, and it's happening right now. Life Dynamics

One of UK’s earliest babies celebrates her 21st birthday

One of UK’s earliest babies celebrates her 21st birthday | News | The Christian Institute: Jessica Phelan was born 23 weeks and four days into her mother’s pregnancy, and her comments add to calls for changes to the abortion law. She was born weighing just 1lb 3oz and at one stage doctors advised her parents to turn off the youngster’s life support machine, a suggestion they refused. Miss Phelan, who now works as a carer for the elderly, said: “I want to of course have babies of my own in the future and I agree that the limit of abortion at 24 weeks should be lowered like the Government have said to 20 or 22 weeks."

California Abortionist Accused of Homicide In Patient Death

California Abortionist Accused of Homicide In Patient Death :Operation Rescue: The Medical Board of California amended a complaint on Wednesday against troubled abortionist Andrew Rutland to include the charge of homicide in the death of Ying Chen. A revocation hearing before the Medical Board is scheduled for February, 2011.

Rutland had committed a second trimester abortion on Ying Chen at a dirty, unlicensed acupuncture clinic in San Gabriel, California, during which he administered an overdose of lidocaine. He failed to recognize the symptoms of the overdose and the patient went into cardiac arrest. He and his staff were untrained and unequipped to handle the medical emergency. After a “significant delay” in contacting 911, the woman was transported to a local hospital where she died six days later. Chen’s death was originally classified as accidental.

Doctors in India Worried Over Abuse of 'Morning-After' Pill

Doctors in India Worried Over Abuse of 'Morning-After' Pill: Health-care workers and government officials in India are concerned over the routine and indiscriminate use of emergency contraceptive pills, commonly called the 'morning-after' pill. The pills are freely available over the counter in India.

Producers of the two most popular brands in India, called 'I-pill' and 'Unwanted 72,' have been promoting the pills as a 'primary contraceptive' method rather than an 'emergency measure,' and are targeting their ads at teenagers and young unmarried women. More than 8.2 million ECPs were sold in 2009, an increase of 250 percent from the previous year.

Obama Admin Bows to Pressure, Appears to Limit Abortion Funding in Health Care

Obama Admin Bows to Pressure, Appears to Limit Abortion Funding in Health Care: The Obama administration appears to have bowed to pressure from pro-life groups that discovered it had authorized abortion funding in three states under the new high risk health insurance programs created under the new government-run health care bill, President Barack Obama signed into law.

The Department of Health and Human Services issued a new regulation today that it says prohibits the high risk health insurance pools from covering elective abortions with federal taxpayer funds.

However, pro-life groups informed LifeNews.com they are subjecting the new regulations to scrutiny to determine whether the Obama administration is following through on its promise to withhold abortion funding.

South Korea Looks at Legalizing Abortion

South Korea Looks at Legalizing Abortion: South Korea's Mother and Child Health Law permits abortion only when the mother's health is in serious danger, or in cases of rape, incest or severe genetic disorder. Abortion is illegal after 24 weeks of pregnancy and technically punishable by the Korean Penal Code. The government has for decades, however, turned a blind eye to the flourishing illegal abortion trade, with the result that South Korea already has one of the highest abortion rates in the world.

Official data from the Ministry of Health indicates that doctors perform about 350,000 abortions per year, while they deliver on average just 450,000 babies, meaning 43.7 percent of pregnancies end in abortion. The actual number of abortions may be at least five times the official estimate, with a spokesman from the ruling Grand National Party saying that a National Assembly inspection last October found that the number of illegal abortions in Korea exceeds 1.5 million a year or roughly 4,000 babies aborted per day. South Korea's total fertility rate is now estimated at 1.19 children per woman, one of the lowest in the world.

Editor: It's shocking and sad that S. Korea's figures match what once was the U.S. abortion rate, and is now higher than ours!

Black Pro-Life Advocates Oppose Palin Endorsement of Pro-Choice Karen Handel - Christian Newswire: LaNell Babbage-Torres says she was stunned to learn of Sarah Palin's endorsement of Karen Handel. Dr. Alveda King added, "Karen Handel has proven herself a master of political doublespeak, telling voters she is pro-life while directing taxpayer money to the number one killer of black babies in the nation."

Bringing science to the abortion debate

BAUER & ALLOTT: Bringing science to the abortion debate - Washington Times: According to conventional wisdom, anti-abortion advocates are vulnerable to charges of being anti-woman and anti-science. Pro-lifers subordinate dispassionate scientific inquiry to irrational religious belief, many people believe, and their 'fetus fetish' blinds them to the plight of women in crisis pregnancies. But two novel laws passed recently in Nebraska explode those myths by highlighting how pro-lifers have embraced women and seized the mantle of science by revealing exactly what it is those who abort are choosing.

Will Obama keep his abortion promise?

Family Research Council: In March, Obama signed an executive order, after passage of the healthcare reform measure, to preserve policies that keep federal funds from paying for abortions. Thought for the Week from Colleen Tronson, Metro Women's Center

"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." --Galatians 6:9

John Piper comments, "If you ask what the 'well-doing' is that we must not tire of, probably the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22ff is the best answer: don't weary of being patient and kind and good and faithful and gentle and self-controlled. Don't weary of manifesting your peace and joy in all kinds of acts of love to your neighbors and associates and family. In short, don't lose heart in spending yourself through love."
It is tiring to keep going when times are tough. There are times when the "return" on the investment of time, energy, love, tears, etc. may not be seen this side of glory, but it is so worth it.

‘Partial Victory for Life’ as Pennsylvania Abortionist Shuts Down Two Clinics

‘Partial Victory for Life’ as Pennsylvania Abortionist Shuts Down Two Clinics The Pennsylvania Health Department’s order for Dr. Steven Chase Brigham’s clinics to cease performing abortions at facilities in Erie and State College represents a “partial victory for life.” They are, however, permitted to remain open for other services.

Brigham successfully transferred ownership of his Pittsburgh and Allentown abortion clinics to Rose Health Services, an entity in which he has no controlling interest, in order to stave off their closure. Deputy Secretary of Health Robert Torres has banned Brigham and any corporation he controls from operating abortion clinics in Pennsylvania, because of his persistent infractions against state medical regulations.

Brigham owns a chain of 15 abortion facilities with locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia, however he is licensed only to practice medicine in New Jersey. Brigham let his medical license lapse in Georgia, California, and was suspended permanently in Pennsylvania, Florida, and New York.

You Can’t Take the Back Alley Out of Abortion

You Can’t Take the Back Alley Out of Abortion | First Things: Abortion supporters embody the single biggest indicator of delusion, which is this: In order to see things working out their way, they have to imagine the world different than it is. They need this to keep going — they need to keep looking forward to the vision they have in mind. But what they lose along the way is a deeper understanding of why abortion isn’t accepted in public and medical life. Rather than trying to understand why support for abortion dwindles, they turn away, they cover up, they try to hide the discomforting part of abortion from patients, from nurses, from themselves.

The new abortion providers

In 1973, hospitals made up 80 percent of the country’s abortion facilities. By 1981, however, clinics outnumbered hospitals, and 15 years later, 90 percent of the abortions in the U.S. were performed at clinics. The American Medical Association did not maintain standards of care for the procedure. Hospitals didn’t shelter them in their wings. Being a pro-choice doctor came to mean referring your patients to a clinic rather than doing abortions in your own office. This was never the feminist plan. . . .

For all the anxiety about being in the spotlight, the surprising truth is that however embattled abortion remains in America at large, at the top of academic medicine, the structure built to support it looks secure. David Grimes . . . surveys the terrain . . . and says with satisfaction: “A few things have happened to turn it all around. Thanks to the donor, I think it’s all here to stay.” NY Times

Editor: "The donor" is the Susan Thomas Buffet Foundation, and the grants are given through the Kenneth J. Ryan Residency Training Program, which gives medical schools two or three years of seed money for abortion training for OB-GYN residents.

Women Can Sue for Psychological Injuries After Abortion

Women Can Sue for Psychological Injuries After Abortion: Until now, women who experienced psychological problems after an abortion had no standing to sue abortionists for subsequent psychological problems, even when the women were coerced into unwanted abortions. The Nebraska law removes that legal obstacle and also clarifies the standard of care for appropriate pre-abortion screening.

Womb of the Unknown Soldier

The military may want to limit civilian casualties, but Senate Democrats are doing everything they can to increase them. When they trek back to Washington next week, members will take another crack at taxpayer-funded abortions -- this time on foreign and domestic military installations. Buffett Billions Padding “Charitable” Abortion Advocacy

The Bloomberg news agency reports that abortion advocacy groups received tens of millions for their work promoting abortion at home and abroad through the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, a charity Buffet set up in honor of his first wife, who died in 2005. That foundation distributed more than $2 million to the Abortion Access Project Inc., over $2 million to Catholics for Choice, a group dedicated to undermining the Catholic Church’s teaching on the sanctity of life, and more than $40 million to Ipas, a group that promotes the expansion of legal abortion in Latin and Central America, and in third world countries. FRC Responds to Flawed British Study on Fetal Pain

The Family Research Council released a new report that refutes claims made recently by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' that a fetus is not able to feel pain before 24 weeks of development. Pro-abortion activists in the United States could also try to use this study to argue against Nebraska's new law that states that an unborn baby can feel pain at 20 weeks and which, as a result, outlaws abortions from that point on. FRC notes that the RCOG's study is seriously flawed and could lead to a profound moral injustice, the more cavalier taking of unborn life.

Pro-Life Women's Group Confident White House Pregnancy Funds Airtight

The Obama administration quietly announced the $25 million fund about two weeks ago, and it is a section of the controversial national health care bill President Barack Obama signed that also contains massive abortion funding. Focus on the Family, FRC, Care Net and Heartbeat say they're concerned Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion groups will wind up receiving some of the money. They also note the total funding is a "drop in the bucket" compared with the hundreds of millions in government monies pro-abortion groups and the abortion business receive.

But Serrin Foster of Feminists for Life of America is applauding the new grants, saying they are the "first federal grants of their kind" and they were "inspired by Feminists for Life's work on college campuses to develop resources for this underserved population. HHS Approves Pennsylvania Plan to Subsidize Coverage of Nearly All Abortions in New "High-Risk Pool"

The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new "high-risk" insurance program under a provision of the federal health care legislation enacted in March -- and has quietly approved a plan submitted by an appointee of Governor Edward Rendell (D) under which the new program will cover any abortion that is legal in Pennsylvania. "The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million in federal tax funds, which we've discovered will pay for insurance plans that cover any legal abortion," said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee. "This is just the first proof of the phoniness of President Obama's assurances that federal funds would not subsidize abortion -- but it will not be the last."

And it's now been revealed that New Mexico will have a similar program. LifeNews

Ginsburg: Roe will hold

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg declared Thursday that abortions would continue to be available to women regardless of the legal challenges now being waged by opponents of Roe v. Wade. "We will never go back to the way it once was." Politico

Bill to Restrict Speech of PCCs by Controlling Their Advertising

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) have reintroduced legislation to restrict the speech of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers by regulating the advertising they do. The bill would direct the Federal Trade Commission to restrict advertising by the pregnancy resource centers, specifically ads that “create the impression that such person is a provider of abortion services if such person does not provide abortion services.” Critics claim the “Stop Deceptive Advertising in Women’s Services Act,” first introduced in 2007, is itself deceptive and is designed to limit the access women have to organizations that provide alternatives to abortion. Study undercuts sex ed advocates

A U.S. government study has found that most teens are virgins, a finding which one pro-life group says has “huge significance” for sex education curricula which assume that teenagers are sexually active. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s June 2010 report (PDF) is titled “Teenagers in the United States: Sexual Activity, Contraceptive Use, and Childbearing.”

It shows that from 2006 to 2008, 58 percent of never-married teen girls and 57 percent of never-married teen boys between the ages of 15 and 19 reported that they had never had sexual intercourse. The numbers were substantially unchanged since a 2002 study. As in the 2002 study, the leading reason teens gave for not having intercourse was “against religion or morals,” with 41 percent of teen females and 35 percent of teen males offering this reason. The vast majority of never-married teenagers had not had sexual intercourse in the month before the survey, with 76 percent of females and 79 percent of males reporting no sexual relations.

The American Life League claims that the report builds a “solid case” against Planned Parenthood’s promotion of “sex education devoid of morality or religious influence.”

Healing for the Soul

Kurt Dillinger is in Kitwe, Zambia, visiting Edward and Barbara Mwansa. One of the many ministries that they oversee is a maternity home for unwed mothers. All of the moms have led lives that eventually resulted in their contracting HIV/AIDS and a pregnancy. They have been sexually active most of their young lives, initially not by choice but developing later as a lifestyle. They come to the home with no family support system, no financial help, no health care insurance, no friends, and no hope for the future. They are gradually dying and they have been told by someone that they must abort their baby or the baby will certainly be born with the HIV/AIDS virus.

. . . Just by accepting her, giving her a safe place for her to live, and teaching her new life skills, her own life is re-energized – resulting in more days, possibly years of life. It is amazing what being loved can do for a person! Additionally, she is told that there is a high probability that her child would be HIV/AIDS free after being born if she follows the council of the maternity home leaders and takes the medications offered by the doctors. The amazing truth about this story is, every young woman going through this maternity home program has given birth to a HIV/AIDS free baby.

In the name of Jesus

What does it mean to pray in the name of someone? The sense that the Bible authors used it, was what the person stood for, the substance of their character, or their authority. . . . When we pray in the name of Jesus or baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, what we are doing is acting in their authority, in their stead, according to their command, and consistent with their desires. . . . There is power in praying in the authority of Jesus Christ, by the authority He has given you, consistent with His character, His desire, and His will. It's like when we say, "Stop in the name of the law." . . . It might be better for us to start our prayers with that phrase instead of ending it. STR
