Insights from butterflies, from Lori Smith

Missionary Lori Smith writes that the butterflies in Papua New Guinea are both plentiful and spectacularly beautiful. They are also a picture of the new life we have in Christ:
Everything about that caterpillar is different now after his "tomb of transformation." Before, he crawled face down in the dirt. Now, the butterfly has a totally new perspective with a view from the heavenward on the challenges of life. The desires of before -- eating leaves which brought only destruction of the plants in the wake of the feeding frenzy -- now changes to drinking the nectar of the flowers and providing fruitful labor of cross pollination needed for a harvest to grow. From an earthly perspective to a heavenly view, from a destructive lifestyle to one of fruitfulness, that is Christianity in a nut shell. That is God's plan so perfectly described to us in 2 Cor. 5.
