Abortion: According to statistics from the Michigan Department of Community Health released in January 2012, the number of abortions in Michigan increased by 4.25 percent in 2010. The report states that 23,307 abortions were performed in Michigan during 2010 compared to 22,357 in 2009. Since 1987, there has been a 52.5 percent decrease in the number of Michigan abortions.
