Heartbeat International, Babies Go to Congress: No woman should ever feel so alone, so coerced, or so hopeless that she ends her child's life through abortion. But that is just how Jada Cooper felt nine years ago. She was homeless, jobless, hopeless, and pregnant. Seeking help for housing, she was turned away from almost every shelter in St. Louis. Then Jada found Heartbeat affiliate Our Lady's Inn maternity home.
"I was expecting another, 'Sorry ma'am, we are full,' but Mary (from Our Lady's Inn) instead asked if I could bring my belongings right away, because there was a vacancy. I was relieved to know that a door wasn't closed. I began to prepare for the birth of my new baby boy at Our Lady's Inn. I was finally welcomed with open arms, not rejection. Our Lady's Inn helped me to become more self-sufficient through their humble acts of love."
