According to a report released Wednesday by Human Rights Watch, hundreds of women in Afghanistan face prison time if they try to escape domestic abuse, sex trafficking, or rape. Premarital sex is considered a crime punishable by imprisonment in the country, as is running away from abuse. “From the first time I came to this world my destiny was destroyed,” one 17-year-old girl forced into prostitution told the rights group.
