RN charged with performing unlawful abortion (Ark. Dept. of Health): A registered nurse employed by the El Dorado office of the Arkansas Department of Health has been charged with performing an unlawful abortion on a 20-year-old El Dorado resident. Tracye Summerville is also being charged with first-degree attempted criminal battery, possessing medication without proper documentation and performing an abortion without a license.

The El Dorado Police Department said that Summerville provided a female with five Cytotec pills, which are used to abort a fetus during the first trimester of pregnancy, on May 13 under the pretense that the medication was to be used for symptoms of nausea. The victim took two pills, then visited the Arkansas Health Education Center the next day complaining of “heavy spotting and bleeding.” The victim was said to be between eight and 10 weeks pregnant at the time she lost the fetus.
