Abortion facility tries to stop pro-life video with real abortion footage | LifeSiteNews.com: Jill Stanek reports that Northland Family Planning Center’s attorneys have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Center for Bioethical Reform, alleging that posting their video "The Most Shocking Four-Minute Abortion Debate You'll Ever See" violated U.S. digital copyright laws, because Northland holds the registered copyright to the “Everyday Good Women Choose Abortion” footage. The letter warns they could face civil penalties of $150,000 for each posting as well as potential criminal liability.
The Thomas More Law Center is representing CBR and said they'd be happy to bring the matter to court. TMLC senior trial counsel Robert Muise asserts that the Northland material in the CBR video fulfills the “fair use” doctrine in US copyright law, and warned Northland would be “reckless” to follow through on “hollow threats to sue them.”
