Proposed legislation would regulate Michigan PCCs

A cluster of bills has been introduced by a pro-choice coalition that "will protect women’s health, reduce unintended pregnancies, help prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections and save scarce public health dollars." Chiefly of concern are SB 668/HB 5158, titled "Crisis Pregnancy Center Regulation," which requires CPCs to obtain informed consent from the women they serve and to notify women that they do not provide information on how to obtain an abortion, abortion services, or birth control information. SB 666/HB 5163, "Comprehensive Sex Education," requires that age-appropriate, medically accurate, including abstinence and birth control, and objective sexuality education be taught in public schools.
