WHDH-TV - Mass. doc gets 6 months in abortion patient death: A Cape Cod doctor was sentenced one day after admitting fault in the death of a 22-year-old woman during an abortion in September of 2007.
“Nobody won, nobody won. Laura got justice, but it’s a tragedy all around,” said Eileen Smith, the victim’s mother.
67-year-old Rapin Osathanondh was led away in handcuffs after being sentenced to two and half years in prison. Under a plea agreement, Osathanondh will spend six months behind bars, then nine months of home confinement, followed by three years probation.
