Induced Abortions Linked to Preterm Delivery

Induced Abortions Linked to Preterm Delivery: According to a study in Ob/Gyn News, "A history of one or more abortions was associated with a twofold increase in preterm delivery at less than 24 weeks' gestation. A study of 3,138 women who had one or more therapeutic abortions who underwent a subsequent delivery of a live singleton or multiples and 14,778 women who had no history of abortion and who gave birth at the hospital during the same period."

Editor: AAPLOG notes that it's rare to find such an admission in American ob/gyn literature. "The relative indifference displayed by medical authorities and professional colleges in general regarding the association of abortion with subsequent increased preterm birth risk is simply stunning."
