Conditions under which it is acceptable to have sex:
• If you're in a stable relationship
• If you feel emotionally ready
• If you're free of sexually transmitted diseases
• If you have access to contraception
Conditions under which it is acceptable to have a baby:
• If you can afford it
• If you've finished your education
• If you feel emotionally ready to parent a child
• If your partner would make a good parent
• If you're ready for all the lifestyle changes that would be involved with parenthood

These questions could prevent countless unwanted abortions. These questions can lead to referrals for family and intervention counseling, or shelters from abuse, which could help thousands of women avoid unwanted abortions. These questions can help save lives. But today, abortion providers are free to ignore these questions. And sadly, to save time during patient intake, most do. The UnChoice

Washington State Abortion Advocates Attack Pregnancy Centers
A Washington legislative committee will hold a hearing Wednesday on a bill attacking pregnancy centers. The legislation would apply the Consumer Protection Act to religious non-profit organization and violate PCC's rights of freedom of faith and conscience. The idea is to define information pregnancy centers produce as not "medically and scientifically accurate" because women are told about physical, medical and mental health risks of abortion -- risks abortion advocates deny.
Centers that violate the act would large penalties and fines that don't apply to abortion centers. Paula Cullen, the former director of Life Services of Spokane, plans to testify at Wednesday's hearing. She told will point out that the bill could eliminate approximately $15 million worth of free services for women facing unplanned pregnancies. LifeNews

Strengthening PCC and Church Relationships
- Maintain communication through regular updates, newsletters, prayer calendars, etc. - through mailed or emailed materials.
- Have one or two pastors on your board, or create a pastors advisory committee to which you'll be accountable and from whom you can receive input on issues or projects that come up. (Too many pastors on a board can be a drawback, but it's good to have some representation there.)
- Offer your brochures or other ministry tools for the church's use.
- Provide Sanctity of Human Life Sunday bulletin inserts free of charge to your supporting churches.
- When emailing pastors, provide an online link to BFL's Pro-Life Pastors' Corner blog: http://blfpastorscorner.blogspot.com/
If you have helpful experiences to share or other suggestions for improving PCC and Church relationships, please comment!

National Cancer Institute Researcher Admits Abortion Breast Cancer Link
U.S. National Cancer Institute researcher Dr. Louise Brinton, who was the chief organizer of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) workshop in 2003 that persuaded women that it was "well established" that "abortion is not associated with increased breast cancer risk," has reversed her position and now admits that abortion and oral contraceptives raise breast cancer risks.
An April 2009 study by Jessica Dolle et al. of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center examining the relationship between oral contraceptives and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), an aggressive form of breast cancer associated with high mortality, in women under age 45, contained an admission from Dr. Brinton and her colleagues that abortion raises breast cancer risk by 40%.
The study found that "a statistically significant 40% increased risk for women who have abortions" exists, and that a " 270% increased risk of triple negative breast cancer (an aggressive form of breast cancer associated with high mortality) among those who used oral contraceptives while under age 18 and a 320% increased risk of triple negative breast cancer among recent users (within 1-5 years) of oral contraceptives," also exists. Planned Parenthood Director Bemoans Lack of Info about Natural Family Planning
In one of a pair of recent articles by major Canadian media exploring how women are increasingly turning away from hormonal contraception, the executive director for Sexual Health Access Alberta (formerly known as Planned Parenthood Alberta), bemoans the lack of information about natural family planning.
In the most recent of the two articles, published yesterday in Canwest papers across the country, the SHAA director criticized the medical establishment for its pill-focused approach to contraception. "What I see in our communities is an absolute failure to move beyond the idea that hormonal birth control is the be-all and end-all," said Laura Wershler. What's happening is we're not developing support, programs and advocacy for women looking for non-hormonal methods. There's this lack of knowledge and understanding within my own field," Wershler continued, referring to natural methods of birth regulation that involve awareness about the woman’s reproductive cycle. "Women are going to sexual-health clinics and being laughed off by the doctors and clinics for looking for alternatives." LifeSiteNews

Viability: What the Pro-Life Movement Must Do to Survive & Thrive
A new book by Mike Fichter, president of Indian Right to Life, says it's time for the entire life movement to start building for its long term viability through thoughtful, strategic development that will enable us to do more than just survive - but to thrive. "This isn’t a sprint, and we’re not playing games. We cannot afford to be distracted by chasing every new program that comes along, and we can’t pretend that just doing more of the same will get us where we need to go. We are in the most significant time in the history of the life movement. We can do more than we dared to dream when we shake loose from the norm and start thinking big. This is our time – let’s shake things up!"
The worst way to build a board
Service on your board of directors is a privilege and an honor not to be extended lightly. In fact, the opportunity should never be extended unless a candidate has been thoroughly vetted, meets a leadership need, is approved by the current board in advance, and agrees to meet the established expectations for board members.
