BREAKING: House passes budget gutting D.C. abortions, bill defunding Planned Parenthood | LifeSiteNews.com: The House passed a separate measure defunding Planned Parenthood, a provision that was cut from the original House budget in negotiations last week.
The vote on the budget bill was 260-167 with 59 Republicans voting against the budget measure, and 89 Democrats voting for it. Some Republican lawmakers had vowed to vote against the budget bill because some sources had claimed that the nearly $40 billion in cuts agreed to by the Obama administration were mostly illusory.
In addition to defunding D.C. abortions, the Continuing Resolution reduced funding for the United Nations Population Fund, which investigations have found to be complicit with China’s coercive one-child policy. The bill also reduces international and domestic family planning funds to Bush-era levels.
