Planned Parenthood expansion plans

Planned Parenthood tells of expansion - Omaha.com: Planned Parenthood of the Heartland announced intentions Thursday to open six more health centers in Nebraska and six more in Iowa. Jill June, president of the Des Moines-based Planned Parenthood affiliate that serves Iowa and Nebraska, told a gathering in Omaha that the agency has more than $7 million committed to an $11.5 million capital campaign. She hopes to complete the expansion effort within the next five years.

Omaha has two clinics and Lincoln has two, although the agency will soon close its O Street center in Lincoln and open a new one at an unnamed location elsewhere in Lincoln. Planned Parenthood currently has no other clinics in Nebraska. The plan calls for health centers to open in Fremont, Grand Island, Norfolk, Kearney, Hastings and North Platte. In Iowa, which currently has more than 20 clinics, Planned Parenthood would add health centers in Carter Lake, Mason City, Clinton, Ottumwa, Muscatine and Marshalltown.

Editor: The article mentions there were about 100 people inside listening to the announcement and about 100 outside protesting.
