Oldest Abortion Clinic Closing After 36 Years

The Women's Choice Clinic of Oakland, considered by some to be the oldest abortion clinic in the nation, is closing its doors. The bad economy is the culprit. WCC has seen 64,000 customers and about 2,000 customers on an annual basis. It will convert to a volunteer-based educational group that will distribute sexual education information to members of the local community. At least 10 different pregnancy care centers in the Oakland area and surrounding communities serve women with pregnancy help and information, medical and insurance referrals, help with education, maternity and baby needs and other services.
